Reading List
Looking for something fantastic to read while you wait for my next book? Check out some of my favorite titles below.
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
Epic Fantasy
One of the rare books that combines utterly beautiful prose with a clear, concise, and compelling plot. A classic in our family, we come back to this one over and over, which is good because it's a long wait between books in this series!
The Witch's Heart by Genevieve Gornichec
Folklore-inspired Fantasy
I loved the authenticity of the relationships in this book. Every character was so nuanced and real, and I loved how it flipped the traditional outlook on Norse characters and brought them into new and unique lights.
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
Classical Fiction
Anne is my own "kindred spirit," and I relate on so many levels to her personality, her perspective, and her spirit. An absolutely feel-good story, this book never fails to uplift me. Bonus points: it's Canadian!
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
Children's Fiction
Don't read this one on the subway unless you're very comfortable crying on people. This is one of those stories that you're never certain if it really happened on not, so besides being intensely emotional, it also leaves you thinking for days (ok, fine, years).
Essentialism by Greg McKeown
Nonfiction
This book absolutely changed my life and challenged everything I believe about our modern cultural commitments and values. I came out the other side a vastly improved human being.
Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach
Nonfiction
Possibly the most intensely interesting and outrageously hilarious (and perhaps... the only?) read on human cadavers ever written.
